Why and when did you decide to homeschool your children?
Homeschooling has always been my calling since God blessed me with children. I have always believed in educating our own, from the ground up. I believe there are some things parents are the best teachers of, as they are a child’s first teacher. I do not believe in the confines of traditional education, as each child is unique and has a unique learning style. Equipping my children with important life skills gives them the ability to navigate, soar, and succeed later in life. Homeschooling extends greater value, purpose and memories for us as a family!
Describe your homeschool in three words.
Academy of Excellence
What’s your proudest homeschool moment?
To graduate my daughter and see her off to Duke University with a full 4-year scholarship, complete with paid housing and a job. As parents, we are university educated ourselves, however our upbringing reflects great Faith, hard work, and determination as a pay off, as opposed to financial wealth. Knowing this is just the stepping stone to my other children’s future.
What’s your goal as a home educator?
To teach my children they can be all that they desire! Never settle and become a product of society, but a product in society. They can rise above extreme circumstances and succeed.
How has homeschooling benefited your family?
My children are receiving a customizable education. The ability to foster their individual talents, to challenge them, and strengthen their weaknesses is value incomparable to traditional education.
Which Bible verse helps you most with homeschooling? How?
Psalm 127:3-5, Proverbs 22:6 I am extremely blessed for the gift of children. I believe God chooses special individuals to be mothers. Having two sets of children has truly humbled me and taught me many lessons over my 20+ yrs. as a mother!
How do you overcome homeschool challenges?
I give it to God. He is the Alpha and Omega in our lives, home, and homeschool. Prayers never expire!
