Why and when did you decide to homeschool your child?

My son was getting poor grades in school but performing well on classroom and standardized tests. They told me he did not qualify for extra help because he scored too high for intervention and they wanted to hold him back. Something about this seemed off to me, so I took him out this year for fourth grade and have no intentions of returning.

Describe your homeschool in three words.

60/40 unschool/homeschool.

How has homeschooling changed you?

Homeschooling has changed my life. There is nothing holding us back from doing and accomplishing anything. It’s helped me tap into my creative side and changed my perspective on how to live life.

How does your child feel about being homeschooled?

He loves the learning part, he really feels good about what and how he’s learning. He does miss “hanging out” at school though.

Splash Math, Khan Academy, the public library
