Why and when did you decide to homeschool your child?
I wanted to be 100% involved in my child’s education. To me, education means preparing him not only for this world, but for a higher purpose. To teach him about God’s infinite love and to help shape his character according to His will. To learn to love God and to love others as himself. My husband and I decided we wanted to homeschool even before Justus was born.
Describe your homeschool in three words.
Bible, nature, simple
What’s your proudest homeschool moment?
When Justus told me that he absolutely loved learning and loved being homeschooled.
How has homeschooling changed you?
Homeschooling has made me realize that I need patience, understanding and self-control. It has made me see how much I need God and how much I truly need to give my first thoughts to God in the early hours in prayer and reading, so I can be the woman He wants me to be. I’m closer to God because of homeschooling.
How do you overcome homeschool challenges?
Through prayer, help from other homeschooling moms and seeing and remembering the wonderful things homeschooling has done for my child.
What would you say to someone who may be contemplating homeschooling?
It might be tough but it’s worth it. Pray about it and find a homeschool group that has the same beliefs and values as you, who will help and encourage you when times get tough and celebrate with you during times of joy.
How can we connect with you?
