Interview with Alejandra Rodriguez

Ages of Children: 7, 5, 2
Location: California

Why and when did you decide to homeschool your children?

I decided to homeschool my children after my first daughter was born, and I felt God’s strong calling to quit my job and stay at home with her. I knew in my heart that I could not see myself having anyone else teaching them and deciding what to teach, when and how. In addition, having worked for over ten years within the public schools and seeing the lack of good values and morals was a major factor in deciding to homeschool my children.

How has homeschooling benefited your family?

Less stress and we have more time for each other.

Describe your homeschool in three words.

Enjoyable, challenging, and fulfilling.

What’s your proudest homeschool moment?

Watching my children grow and learn, like when my 7-year-old daughter learned how to read.

Who do you turn to when you need homeschooling advice? Why?

My dear friend Andrea who has been homeschooling for over 10 years. She always has supportive advice and kind words of encouragement.

What’s the best homeschooling advice you’ve ever received?

“Don’t be so hard on yourself, you are doing great!”
